This quotation from Things to Come is just crackers -- ignoring the underlying lack of compassion for the individual -- the bigger idea, that humanity must colonise the universe fails to appreciate just how big space is -- or that it might be inhabited already... .

What a moment, what is context of the quote?? This could mean many things depending on the context. Is it even an imperative statement (grammatically speaking) or is it an observational one?? The word conquest doesn't necessarily mean military, it could mean simply the achievement of certain self-set goals etc.

I wouldn't make a ruling (so to speak) until I see the context
