But here it is -- a satire taken seriously leads to a boycott of Bieber for political positions he never took.
The story is so crazy as to sound like a satire itself -- maybe it is???
Anyway, from the Post read and decide for yourself:
Justin Bieber was seven when 9/11 shattered North America's sense of national security. Why, then, would the Canadian pop star weigh into the politically fraught debate about Park51, the controversial mosque under construction near Ground Zero?
The real question, perhaps, is did he?
Andy Sullivan, the founder of the 9/11 Hard Hat Pledge — which asks construction workers to turn down any jobs on the New York City site — says Bieber spoke out in favour of the mosque. The comments were in the December issue of Tiger Beat magazine, he said, an interview that no one can seem to find (but go ahead and peruse the 10 ways to make Justin Bieber smile). Mr. Sullivan shared the news with his two children and has banned them from attending any future Bieber concerts. That was fine by his 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter. "My little girl took down his poster and said she didn't want to have nothing to do with him anymore. These are my kids. They're living this thing," Mr. Sullivan told Salon.com.
The baby-faced crooner was added to a celebrity boycott list, which includes funnymen Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert as well as New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.
But those elusive Tiger Beat comments have been hard to substantiate. The only quotes available are from CelebJihad.com, a satirical blog. "Muslims should be allowed to build a mosque anywhere they want," the singer said. "Coming from Canada, I'm not used to this level of intolerance, eh."
Bieber went on to say that Muslims are "super cool," Christians are "lame-o-rama," and that the mosque will help "start a dialogue" with all religions about which Justin Bieber song is the most awesome, the site said.
"I was like seven when September 11th went down, and frankly I'm surprised people are still going on about it. Move on, already!"
The boycott is listed on a Facebook page, which boasts a photo of the smiling celeb covered by a red circle with a slash through it. Its most recent status update: "We are waiting for comment from Tiger Beat Magazine to verify the article we quoted. However, our source of information was not based on the obviously false quotes from celebjihad."

As I commented on someone else's blog, I believe Justin Bieber and his family are devout Christians.
The article was a hoax, http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/12/30/justin_bieber_ground_zero_mosque/index.html
The extreme right can't tell the difference between satire and their own vicious dogma.
