He's a god-man who is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, who judges and rewards good and bad behaviour. He is a vehicle of undeserved love, forgiveness and grace. Children are taught to adore him and to please him with sacrificial offerings of milk and cookies. He dwells far off in another realm but promises to return regularly to the benefit of those who believe in him.

Sounds like a deity that deserves more respect than he gets. No priesthood to get in the way between us and Santa.
good point!
No,no! Santa is an Inuk shaman ("angakok") He lives in the arctic, wears furs and big kamiks (boots), and his komatic (sled) is pulled by tuktu (caribou). I figure he's an angakok because his sled flies, and because he can visit all the boys and girls in one night.
