Cut car taxes and increase TTC fares to meet shortfall?

So TTC fares will go up a dime. And car taxes are cut. Hmmmn... .

From Star:

"Transit riders will be paying more for less service, he said, calling the increase a "bizarre signal" because it will cost transit riders about $50 to $60 a year, roughly the same cost motorists will save on the vehicle registration tax that Ford eliminated last month."

Transit fares regularly go up with little improvement in service. This pattern took place well before this car tax was imposed.

Users are expected to pay more for the service they use.

A reminder that the vehicle registration is payed twice by Torontonians.

Also the HST has hammered drivers with higher costs for fuel. Drivers deserve a break. No?

By all means find a way to avoid the rate increase to TTC users but don't punish drivers to do it.Many citizens are both.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul.

For many, a car is a luxury they can't afford, and many have either given up, or lost their family car. People in that situation turn to public transit because it's suppose to be cheaper.

Now those people who can't afford a car of their own, will be paying more for public transit, so car owners who can afford, in many cases multiple vehicles, will pay less to drive.

Garvy train! All 'board!

So a mentally ill, left-wing Jew shoots a Congresswoman and the mainstream media tries to pin the blame on the Tea Party, on right-wing White Gentiles and on the pro-White movement.

It seems somebody took my advice.
They found a way to scrap the increase.
