I take it as red that Mr. Jung was speaking of 'idealism' in its popular usage (connoting an intense optimism) and not in its philosophical usage (that the external world does not have an absolute existence that we can access). Either way, given Mr. Jung's extremely dubious political positions I think he is certainly not to be trusted on matter of idealism.
