Source of the Sorcerer's Apprentice

The story comes from Lucian who took it from ancient Egypt. In the times of the Pharaohs the dead were buried with shabtis, who were servant figurines designed to help the deceased after death. There is an Egyptian story of a shabti who got out of control and needed an expert magician to neutralise it -- the source of story in the Walt Disney clip.
