Conservative candidate for Saint Boniface Shelly Glover attacked Liberal Winnipeg South Centre MP Anita Neville.
That's fair and part of the process.
But the way she made an attack is troubling.
Ms. Glover said:
"We need some fresh blood. We need some new people who come with some new ideas… and I'm afraid Ms. Neville has passed her expiry date."
Now Anita Neville is a senior. And that statement sounds like an attack on seniors -- "passed her expiry date".
Ms. Glover's spokesperson said that "Shelly was referring to her length in office, not her age."
Frankly that isn't very convincing. Would Ms. Glover have said what she did about a long-time MP who was a 50 year old man?
The Canadian Association of Retired Persons demanded an apology to all seniors for Ms. Glover's statement. I think they're right.
She should apologise.

You are to sensative..
That should read "...too sensitive.".
I agree with Anonymous - this is a non-issue. The context is clear. Anybody who takes offense at this comment is doing so because they're already politically aligned against Shelly Glover.
She is a cop....no need to say more,,,,she knows nothing about people or politics. Yesterday a Policy firm ame out with a printout about seniors GIS...in this paper they stated we received two raises from conservatives to GIS one in 2007.2008...in 2007 and 2008 we received cost of living raises which come automatically...the articles said this was the first raise for decades...none is true.Paul Martin gave us a 31 raise.halfJan2005.halfJan2006...none from the Cons.....they are not telling the truth ever.James.GOOD LUCK.
Anon 12:27 That ought to be "too".
