The Environment - We can do better

I travel in Nunavut (I am a member of the Nunavut Law Society).

It is a beautiful and overwhelming place. (See the picture from Baker Lake I took a few weeks ago on my last visit).

It is cold.

But it is not as cold as it used to be.

Global warming is real -- you can actually see it by looking at the ice sheet and feel it when you go outside.

The Liberal position on the environment is sensible and will protect the environment and the economy. Balance is essential -- for a Canada that has jobs for today and a future for tomorrow.

“I would have hoped to see Canada accept our responsibility to reduce carbon pollution, in line
with other developed countries... Unfortunately, Canada will do none of that in Copenhagen.”

– Michael Ignatieff

A Liberal government would fight for a firm international agreement to reduce emissions and contain global warming to within two degrees Celsius. We’ll set 1990 – not 2006 – as our base year and explore differentiated targets for developing countries

Curbing emissions and pollution is a good thing.

Thinking you can manipulate the earths temperature by doing so is another.

The Greenshift would have decimated the economy. Further, it would have done little to curb GHG's.

Suddenly now we are to believe the Libs have the answer?

It is insulting.

I'm guessing the Liberal answer would be.. more tax?
