This is pretty pathetic - it makes the vandalism of campaign signs seem trivial:
TORONTO & SIMCOE – Liberals are warning residents about harassing phone calls as evidence mounts of an aggressive, unethical scheme organised and coordinated by the Liberal Party's political opponents.
In several ridings, residents are receiving rude, harassing phone calls from a "701" North Dakota area code that fraudulently represents itself as calling from a Liberal campaign. Reports made to campaign offices confirm that the calls have been made repeatedly, sometimes very late at night or early in the morning.
"These harassing and rude phone calls, originating from an American area code, are not being made by Liberal campaigns," said Joe Volpe, Liberal candidate for Eglinton-Lawrence. "Only our political opponents would benefit from these incessant phone calls, a tactic taken straight from the Republican dirty-tricks playbook."
"My campaign office in Eglinton-Lawrence received one of these phony calls, in which the caller stated they were calling from my campaign. When the caller was pushed by a volunteer to state where she was calling from, the caller admitted she was making the calls from a company called Dynamics," said Mr. Volpe.
These Republican-style phone calls, first discovered in Mr. Volpe's Eglinton-Lawrence riding, have also taken place in the ridings of Saint Boniface, Hull-Aylmer, Egmont, St. Paul's, Guelph, Simcoe Grey, Haldimand-Norfolk, Mississauga East-Cooksville, and Oakville.
Liberal Haldimand-Norfolk candidate Bob Speller called the phone campaign "a troubling and unwelcome development which unfortunately says something about the current state of politics in our country.

Joe Volpe knows a thing about dirty tricks himself...
Very cowardly anonymous
Name one politician that doesn't have any dirty tricks?
How does Joe Volpe know they are coming from his opposition? A good way to get great pr is have your signs damaged and do a few interviews on local tv and radio. And please, the dirty tricks come from Dippers, Libs and Cons, no one holds high ground on this.
Cato. You didn't say Canadian anonymous
Anonymous is giving it the old Montana spin.
Gene;
If you want we could list some of the nasty things Volpe has done. It wouldn't be pleasant.
Wasn't a Liberal volunteer just arrested and charged with theft of signs. James maybe you should have some proof before you start spouting off or are you just trying to create a smokescreen for this Liberal volunteer.
It is pretty troubling to see calls coming from a foreign country - potentially interfering in a Canadian election. Kind of like Conservative MP/former Conservative MP in the Lower Mainland getting tons of free airtime on a radio station that repeats signals into Canada. Look that one up... Get the tapes. Here him say some pretty bad things about people... All sitting in Canada, but bouncing the signal off the US repeater.

Who is "we" Anonymous?
Speaking of damaged signs, here in Cambridge, I lost count of the number of Bryan May signs that were knocked down, or damaged, while the signs of other candidates weren't touched.
I guess Gary Goodyear is getting nervous.
"We" is the various posters here who know that Volpe has a reputaion for dirty tricks.
"We" is the various posters here...
Oh! I'm sorry. I thought "we" were the multitude of voices in your head. I didn't realize you were using "we" in the Borg sense.
Anonymous is now known as Locutus. Btw very weak with the goalposts changing.
Fact is, I don't know who is behind the Fake Liberal Calls -- it might be a third party even from the USA trying to influence the election. In terms of sign vandalism, I have always been clear I assume it's third parties and not the other candidates. But that is still very troubling... .
Morton; Volpe is implying that it is coming from the other parties.
That much is clear.
Gene;
Another goalpost analogy..
Betty White has moved on from Match Game, why can't you?
