A few were quite hostile -- but even they could be turned around. One told me he did vote because all politics was bull**** and anyway he hated politicians. But after a bit he admitted no one had ever canvassed his street before and he said the phrase above.
Now, I'm not sure I got a vote for the Liberals but after our discussion he took some literature and I am pretty sure he will vote -- and frankly no matter who he chooses that's a step forward!

I was canvassing in a conservative part of Storemont-Dundas riding (near Cornwall). I got some good, some bad, and a woman who told me she was a Liberal but didn't vote liberal last time cuz no one came to her door. This time, I think I got us some votes.
I canvassed a south Oshawa area years ago for a Provincial candidate named Frank Snyder. Larry Grossman was the PC leader at the time.
The area was rough, blue collar, mostly NDP. They all hated the provincial Tories.
Your headline would have fit the reaction I got as well.

We're hearing the same thing in Winnipeg South Centre -- today we canvassed a street which no other political party had visited and were well received by many.
During a light sprinkling or rain, an undecided told me that I was the first to ask her what her priorities were for the election. I told her that I'd take her concerns to Anita Neville and that we're out here listening to Canadians, rain or shine. And funny enough, we hadn't seen a Tory all day. She smiled and thanked me for my time. Likewise, I'm not sure if we had her vote, but I know she'll remember those Liberals reaching out to families, just like hers, on a rainy day when she goes to the polls on May 2.
