Damned if you do, damned if you don't: Vancouver police

All sorts of media are repeating the mantra 'where were the police during the Vancouver riot?'

It seems they stood aside (to a degree) when property was being trashed.

But imagine if they had used tear gas and rubber bullets and horse charges in significant ways.

What would the media be saying today? I expect it would be a variation on a claim of excessive force.

Regardless of what they do, the police get the blame.

What if there were 'bait cars' left out that were vandalized? What does that mean for privacy rights if the BC drivers' licence database is scanned?
