Let Parliament decide on prostitution

http://natpo.st/mLDeSN

By James Morton

Imagine a nation with rampant, open prostitution. A significant number of the poorest prostitutes come from aboriginal backgrounds, often with drug and alcohol addiction. A constant undercurrent of violence and disease running through the sex trade. Police occasionally crack down, but prostitution is still rampant in every city across the land.

Now imagine that such a nation decided that fixing the problem of prostitution was to be accomplished by five or perhaps 14 individuals, none of whom has background in drug addiction, law enforcement, public health or prostitution, and none of whom have been elected by the people to accomplish this task.

You have imagined Canada.

The trouble is that those are the only people who are willing to fix it.
