Was it only yesterday you posted the blurb about how the handling of the incaracarted is the meausre of a society? Here is a column from today's Globe and Mail about a mentally ill man being left in feces for two weeks and about how the system doesn't give a proverbial shit about fixing this God awful mess.

"In a brief seeking to stay the charges of a mentally ill man who was held for 61 days in filthy conditions before receiving proper care, lawyers Robin Parker, Frank Addario and Jessica Orkin argue that their client was subjected to conditions that were “degrading, humiliating, unnecessary and grossly disproportionate to what was required in the circumstances.” [Globe and Mail]

On the flip side - not all jail guards and cops are beating and otherwise abusing people in custody - some are marring them - for cash of course.
