The Don Valley Parkway is 50 today; happy birthday?

The DVP was intended to carry 60,000 cars a day -- in fact it carries 100,000 a day.

It is grossly overburdened; the DVP was intended to be a part of a network of Toronto highways that were never built.

As a result the DVP carries far more than it was planned to do.
