Never do I argue with a man with a desire to hear him say what is wrong, or to expose him and win victory over him.

Whenever I face an opponent in debate I silently pray - O Lord, help him so that truth may flow from his heart and on his tongue, and so that if truth is on my side, he may follow me; and if truth be on his side, I may follow him.

Imam Al-Shafi'i

Abū ʿAbdullāh Muhammad ibn Idrīs al-Shafiʿī (ابو عبدالله محمد بن إدريس الشافعيّ‎) was an Islamic jurist, who lived from 767 CE to 820 CE. He was active in juridical matters and his teaching eventually led to the Shafi'i school of fiqh (or Madh'hab) named after him. Accordingly he is called Imam al-Shafi'i. He is often considered the founder of Islamic jurisprudence.

O Lord, may the media believe everything I say, and may they hate everything else for being Liberal lies. Amen. --Stevie

Droll, very droll. I liked this quotation because it seemed to me to be a real statement of good faith. That is, if I'm wrong that's fine -- let me see the correct way ahead.
