Who is going to win the US Presidential election?

Barack Obama.

And that is not because of his great success as a President.

It's because the Republicans are standing in a circle and firing at each other.

The disunity of the Republicans will guarantee a Democrat victory when even a very ordinary Republican could win the Presidency.

Now, as a liberal I am not overly upset that someone like Bachmann or Perry looks doomed, but there is a lesson for Canada. If we Liberals fight among ourselves we will lose the fight with the Conservatives.

It may seem trite but united we stand; divided we fall.

JM, I must say that the passing of my leader will no doubt assist the Liberal fortunes, however, I am compelled to point out that Canada does need to refocus it's priorities and show the world that we truly are deserving of international attention. We have the ability to make a global difference, under the right leadership which, unfortunately, we do NOT possess at this juncture in our evolutionary process. Regardless as to our present situation, Canada IS the greatest country in the world, now it is up to us to showcase our strengths and merits.

Oh I agree completely -- Canada IS the greatest place on earth.

As for Jack, the NDP will find a new and solid leader (not a replacement but a successor). But my point remains the same -- Obama is very weak but will win because his opposition is divided.

I will agree with both of you.

James, you haven't seen the recent numbers for Rick Perry. Even the NYT's David Brooks sees Perry getting the GOP nomination and possibly unseating Obama. The first couple of primaries will decide whether Perry bumps off Romney. If he does, he's got a straight run to the nomination.

Scary, very scary.

Why is there not the same "infighting" in Canada as the USA.

Declaration of Independence spells that answer out pretty clearly.

Morton has the nerve to talk about American politics when the very same things he finds intriguing in the USA could never happen in Canada because the country is so corrupt and the politicians suck off each other.

Hey Morton, instead of commenting on American politics, why don't you try to bring the American system to Canada, so then you can critique your friends.

That doesn't sound fun does it Morton?

So instead, we get the old corrupt British style of government where politicians somehow never end up in jail.

Geez anonymous you're just a bag of hate and anger

Anon, you've got a very dim grasp on Canadian politics. We're not slow to toss corrupt politicians behind bars. Ask Grant Devine. Ask Brian Mulroney. Ask any Nova Scotian.

Anon, put the cork back on the bottle and pour yourself a cup of strong coffee. You've made a total ass of yourself.

Wishful thinking James.

Romney or Perry can defeat Obama.

This is so normal in primary politics, Clinton and Obama were not exactly lovie dovie, remember "voodoo economics", that was Bush sniping at Ronald Reagan.

"We're not slow to toss corrupt politicians behind bars.'

Give me a list of all the politicians in the last 10 years to go to jail for corruption MOUND OF SOUND.

There isn't one.

The governmnet in Canada including the police are Above the Law.

That's why none of em' are in jail.

"Ask Grant Devine. Ask Brian Mulroney. Ask any Nova Scotian."

IS that the "official" list because on Wikipedia, it's pretty thin as well.

Why Canadians do not demand accountability and equal justice when it comes to their rulers, is beyond me.

It's a sickness I guess.

Well Anon, I'm not going to do your research for you but there have been Canadian politicians convicted for corrupt practices. Meanwhile what specific politicians have committed what criminal acts. You're making the assertion so it's up to you to come up with hard facts. What right do you have to pull this stuff out of your backside?

ONE BILLION TO E-HEALTH AND TONY CLEMENT'S 50 MILLION MONEY BOMB.

CONSULTANTS GETTING MILLIONS AND NOTHING DONE. Where are the police. Whose friends got the money?

Need some more examples.

Who investigates the governmnet in this country.

Last time I checked, Harper had to call in the RCMP on his own friends.

If you want to look at accountability, there have been hundreds of politicians in the USA locked up, including almost the whole New Jersey City council a few years back.

Canada is corrupt, and a banana republic.

The very fact you ask for examples either shows me how blind you are, or how you are part of the very system I despise.

"When federal agents eavesdropped on the telephone conversations of several drug trafficking suspects, they heard talk of marijuana sales, money transfers and cross-country drug shipments.

They may have also detected something far more surprising: a Los Angeles County sheriff's captain."

That is from today. It happens everyday in the USA.

Anti-American progressives like to say that firearms come from the USA.

That might be true.

But go and try to find one customs cop who has ever been convicted of allowing contraband through.

In Canada, our governmnet doesn't investigate their own. It's so obvious because nobody goes to jail.

The Mound of Sound said...

Tell you what, understandably anonymous, if you have anything worthy of being investigated bundle up your evidence and take it to the RCMP. Now, are you having dinner tonight or are you content to feed on your emotions? :)

I remember Jimmy Carter underestimating Ronald Reagan. He was considered a right wing extremist by Carter and the liberal media. We all know what happened.

Wow Rotterdam, you're ancient

We'll see. My sense is the GOP would have a pretty easy win if if if they nominated someone that everyone in the GOP could stand behind and who did not turn off the moderates of neither Party -- but hey, I've been wrong before!!!

"if you have anything worthy of being investigated bundle up your evidence and take it to the RCMP."

How can I dig up any information other than the very basics when every government institution helps the other cover it up.

The media in Canada are in bed with the politicians so they won't do it.

Who fights for the Canadian public to know what actually goes on behind closed doors?

Nobody does.

I wish McGuinty would allow a US Prosecutor to come and look at his books and see how his friends have benefited directly by contracts and grants.

That's corruption.

lol... Infighting or no infighting BOB RAY is a surefire way for the liberals to lose... Viva RAY !!
