Commonwealth leaders agree to change archaic royal succession rules http://bit.ly/vusuIp
Commonwealth leaders have agreed to end a centuries-old rule that discriminates against female heirs to the British throne.
The decision was made at a meeting Friday of the 16 leaders from Commonwealth countries, including Canada, where the Queen is head of state.
The leaders have also agreed to end a 300-year-old ban on the monarch being married to a Catholic.
"There was universal agreement, unanimous agreement that these changes simply recognize the equality of women and Catholics, and they're long overdue," Prime Minister Stephen Harper told reporters after the meeting.

They didn't remove the ban on Catholic monarchs they stated that heirs would now be allowed to marry Catholics. It is still forbid for the head of state, the king or queen (monarch), to be Catholic.
When it comes to religion you seem to lose your cool. It will be changed to a King or Queen will now be able to marry a Roman Catholic. The Roman Catholic Church still does not have any tolerance toward any other God belief system. They are the be all and end all when it comes to going to heaven or hell. Roman Catholics still only make token gestures toward other religions...period darling!
Religion is poison, all world leaders and monarchs should be devoute atheists otherwise they are too irrational to be in charge of others lives.
Any system whereby the Head of State is chosen based on race or religion is wrong
