Melissa Lewis acquitted of murder charges in stabbing death of boyfriend

This is not as surprising as some suggest. The deceased was not the most sympathetic character and that often plays a role in jury verdicts. To be very clear, I do not think the character of a victim of crime should be relevant to whether the accused should be punished -- but it often is:
