Elizabeth May blocked from speaking on Remembrance Day

I'm sure there is a 'reason' but... . Even if she is technically an independent she does head a Party and she should have been allowed to speak:

Elizabeth May (From her FB page)

"I had planned to make a statement marking Remembrance Day this week, but was shocked when Conservative members blocked my chance to speak. Both the Liberals and the NDP agreed that the Bloc and I should be allowed to make statements. All parties should have the chance to pay homage to our veterans."

All parties?

Including the communists? What about the Libertarians?

The rules are there for a reason, technically or otherwise. I don't care one way or the other but don't dismiss the rules willy -nilly.

The rules allow Parliament to recognize anybody's right to speak, the fact the Conservatives will not allow May or the Block to speak is petty and childish gamesmenship rather than "just following the rules" as if they have any respect for rules.
"CONTEMPT!!!!"

Bloc and Greens both have vet members , both have vets in their families. Not allowing them to speak is just spiteful and disrespecful.

So anyone, or any ONE person who represents a party should be allowed to speak at Remembrance Day? Why stop at members of Parliament? Smaller parties have veterans as members, too! Why not open it up so that anyone can speak and we can have a general assembly and we can show our approval or disapproval by up and down twinkles?

I'm a veteran and I attend the local ceremonies. They already take too damn long with every business and private citizen queuing up to lay wreaths. This should be a short and effective ceremony not a forum for every self-centered dick to display their pseudo-patriotism. Elizabeth May can just suck it up, and maybe she can find a way to support our troops the other 364 days.

PS - Don't get me started on the Bloc and that extra special brand of pacifist Quebecois, you know, the ones who protested and rioted against the "English war" to liberate France. The brand that applauded Vive le Quebec Libre by that ultra-prick De Gaulle. The type that doesn't understand what "Does your order include the bodies of American soldiers in France's cemeteries?" refers to. Screw the Bloc, too.
