$2.5 million “national call centre”

I strongly support this. We need to have professional fund-raising with a strong volunteer lead:

"The Liberal party wants to set up a new, $2.5 million "national call centre" to drum up money and new members before the next election.

It's one of the bigger-ticket items that rank-and-file Liberals will be asked to approve when they hold their convention in Ottawa in January — and a blunt acknowledgment of the party's chief liability against Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservatives."

Most Canadians are not swayed by telephone calls and are instead annoyed by them. I'm not sure how this helps. A party that people trust would be a better idea.

One major aim of the National Call Centre is to raise tens of millions of dollars over the next 4 years, so that we can match and beat Harper's new Tories at the their game.

If you really want to understand why this is badly needed, go to the Liberal Party website, and download the background paper prepared by Alfred Apps. It has a very comprehensive analysis of just what the Tory machine is capable of doing, and how it is done. And it explains just how far behind we are in fighting a modern political campaign in the age of the internet.
