What the Conservatives really think of Quebec

The story out of Irwin Cotler's Riding -- that the CPC spread false news about him resigning -- at first struck me as merely a new low in CPC dirty tricks.

But then it dawned on me -- this says something about Quebec and the attitude towards French Canada.

Recent actions have suggested the CPC has abandoned any pretense of seeking French Canadian support (see my post on the RCAF from a few days ago). But the English in Quebec may be a different story.

Hence the idea, take an English seat or two -- even if that requires lying to a large number of people -- and forget the rest of Quebec.

And if that means 'two solitudes' well, whatever... .

Maybe, James.

If it is, it is the same mistake that the Libs made in the West.

"Screw the west take the rest" caught up with them.

Small difference: The West is growing, Quebec is shrinking.

In the long run, and assuming some political party doesn't cave to the distinct society representation crap, Quebec will become a sideshow. As a Westerner I think they wear it well.

It was Campaign Research who did the phoning . They also helped Ford. Perhaps they should review their code of conduct: http://campaignresearch.ca/?page_id=57

Furthermore>>>>The Conservatives were so busy attacking Cotler, they ignored his amendments to an omnibus crime bill which would allow victims of terrorism to sue the perpetrators in this country.

They tried a bit for Quebec this past election. They failed miserably, but the NDP did very well.

Despite being a coalition themselves, they've turned the word "coalition" into a boogieman in the corporate media, so an NDP strong enough to defeat them on its own is something that cannot be allowed. By pissing on Quebec, they're trying to convince Quebecers that federalism is stupid and useless and to go back to the Bloc.

'breach of privilege', says Cotler and Clement

Angus won't apologize to Minister Clement for a televised accusation he altered Hansard, even after it was proved a false accusation'
and the lesser breach was the tele-poll that Cotler 'might' resign.

At least twice a year the media reports that PMSH is being pushed out or resigning.... boo hoo guys.
It's politics.
