Bears are not companions of men, but children of God, and His charity is broad enough for both...

We seek to establish a narrow line between ourselves and the feathery zeros we dare to call angels, but ask a partition barrier of infinite width to show the rest of creation its proper place. Yet bears are made of the same dust as we, and breathe the same winds and drink of the same waters. A bear's days are warmed by the same sun, his dwellings are overdomed by the same blue sky, and his life turns and ebbs with heart-pulsings like ours and was poured from the same fountain.

"A former Rosemead city official who made a run for state Assembly has agreed to plead guilty to soliciting and accepting more than $10,000 in bribes from a developer."

Morton, this is just one story from the an American newspaper documenting a public official being charged with bribery.

Can you give me a link where this has ever happened in Canada? A public official going to jail for bribery.

Public officials in the USA daily are going to daily for crimes against the taxpayers.

Does this ever happen in Canada and can you please provide a link.

Thank You.

"Justice Thomas Gove sentenced Ho to one year probation and issued him a $5,000 fine."

This guy got caught with cocaine, an illegal GLOCK 9MM, he kidnapped the prostitute he was with.

ALL HE GOT WAS PROBATION AND A FINE.

Why is that Morton. An illegal glock gets you probation?

Is that what the case law shows??

Maybe in the States - here there would be incarceration for sure

As for bribery the sponsorship scandal does come to mind - there were feral sentences of three years plus given out there. There have been several others in Quebec in recent years

Vancouver billionaire David Ho has pleaded guilty to possessing an unlicensed firearm and forcibly confining a sex trade worker, who called police to his mansion in the middle of the night three years ago.

The 60-year-old, who founded the now-defunct Harmony Airways, entered his plea Thursday at Vancouver Provincial Court. Ho stood and made an apology to his victim, though the woman was not in court. The person he addressed was actually CTV reporter Lisa Rossington.

Justice Thomas Gove sentenced Ho to one year probation and issued him a $5,000 fine.

THIS GUY GOT NO JAIL TIME FOR HAVING AN ILLEGAL GLOCK.

Again, Morton I ask, how is this possible?????

Morton, are you not going to respond to this guy getting probation for cocaine possession and glock possession?

I'm curious how this guy could have gotten off.
