Hudak wants to order Toronto to build subways, not streetcars

Subways are wonderful. I'd be glad if Toronto had a subway system just as good as New York or London.

But even if Mayor Ford's proposal proceeded we'd only have one, or maybe two, more lines -- and the financing is most unstable. Toronto Council has voted for a more realistic system that is funded. And Toronto Council was elected just like the Mayor.

Now, if Mr Hudak wants Ontario to pay for a massive subway overhaul for Toronto I might say yes selfishly but I suspect the residents of, say, London or Windsor or Kingston might not be so inclined... .

I don't think Hudak's goal is to get subways for Toronto, but to bog down the transit process so that nothing gets built.
