Activist? He was convicted of blowing up things -- that's a terrorist to my mind. He was convicted of bombing a Suncor well site near his home. He was also found guilty of encasing a Norcen Energy well in concrete and counselling an RCMP informant to possess explosives. He served 19 months in jail. The cause doesn't make it any better.
"Anti-oilpatch activist Wiebo Ludwig, who spent nearly two years
behind bars for his clashes with the Alberta
oil and gas industry, has died of esophageal cancer at the age of 70.
In a news release, Ludwig' s
son Josh said his father died at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
"We will miss him as one who steadfastly and selflessly
upheld the hope of the Gospel of Christ, as a loving husband, father and
grandfather," said the release.

To some people it does.
I love the part about selflessly upholding the Gospel of Christ, remind me where in the Gospel its written its ok to blow things up?
Some activist.
I wonder how much of his cancer was due to the industry he fought against.
You might mention that he believed the oil industry was poisoning his family and animals, and he may have been correct to think so. There are no good guys in this story.
Winners right history, if you agree with him, he's an activist, if you disagree, he's a terrorist. There are lots of ex-terrorist hero's around the world, they won.

What do people think of Nelson Mandela and George Washington? Both were considered terrorists by the groups they were opposed to at the time.
Both committed acts of violence.
Neither of them are considered terrorists anymore. Anyone have any ideas why not?
Ha, I"m not the same anon that posted "winners right history" but good to know I'm not the only one thinking like this.
"I wonder how much of his cancer was due to the industry he fought against."
Yeah, 'cause people don't get cancer otherwise. Good to know that some Liberals like some fundamentalist commune living Christians with guns.
Sorry -- blowing things up is wrong especially in a country where there are democratic ways to seek change.
Blowing things up isn't what makes a person a terrorist. Using terror for political gain is what makes a person a terrorist.
This isn't simply semantics. In the case of the former, the attempt is simply to destroy property. In the latter, it is to create fear.
I've never seen any evidence Ludwig was trying to create a climate of fear. Rather, everything points to his desire to destroy the wells he said were poisoning him.
