At the Toronto force, Chief Bill Blair would not be interviewed. His spokesman, Mark Pugash, accused Star reporters of bias and said “your story cannot be taken seriously.”

In fairness, the focus is on the accused and not the police -- and what may superficially look like a lie can be true in fact. But but but the brushing aside of the issue by Chief Blair's office is not encouraging:

In an Orwellian defense he also maintains the fact the officers are not charged with purgery is proof that purgery does not exist.
