I don't normally quote Ezra with approval (he is smart but we are not really on the same political wavelength) but... in this piece I think he is dead on. I see a Wildrose win. And largely because of a self-inflicted Progressive Conservative defeat.
How will this play federally?
It will force Stephen Harper to deal more with his base -- moving him more to the Right -- leaving an opportunity if if if we can manage to capitalize on it and not do another circular firing squad...
Story here
"But the Progressives aren't just using this "insult" against Wildrose. They're using it against their own party, too. The Progressives are running newspaper ads showing a greasy 1950s-era man wearing horn-rimmed glasses, with the slogan, "Not your father's PC party." They are running against middle Alberta - the people who gave them majority governments in every election since 1971. Olsen makes the ultimate insult: He says Wildrose is "being run by Reformers." He mocks Wildrose for receiving the endorsement of Deborah Grey, the first Reform MP elected back in 1989. Olsen says Albertans "don't want to go back" in time."

The campaign tactics of the Alberta "Progressives", as Ezra has so aptly truncated their name, confound me in this election. I voted PC during all my years in AB and served as a VP in a PC riding association, but they certainly are no long "my Father's Party" and that is not a good thing. I don't live in province anymore, but I'm ready for a Wildrose win. Hopefully Wildrose gains will also help to give some momentum to the BC Conservatives.
Ezra is most always wrong. The polls may be right and Ezra repeats them. Ezra can leap to astounding conclusions on any kind of information. The Wildrose will win government but Ezra is just reading the polls. Quoting the polls doesn't make you right or wrong.
Since the Harperites are supporting Wildrose, it's hardly going to pull them farther right; Harper is already farther right than you realize.
Some Wildrose candidates are pretty repellant; they may not do as well as you expect.
Yeah were due for an ndp govt here in bc
How's this for a mix?
Ex BC Liberal Premier, henchman Gordon Campbell works for Herr Harper, a supposed Conservative. Another of Harper's henchmen, Boessenkool is working for the, so called BC Liberals. Van Dongen, a supposed BC Liberal, crossed the floor, to the supposed BC Conservatives.
Gordon Campbell thieved and corruptly sold the BC railroad, and all the priceless Real Estate that went with it. Van Dongen left the BC Liberals, because, Christy Clark refuses to, investigate the $6 million of our thived tax dollars. The money was to pay the two patsies, legal fees....that took the fall for Campbell. Where in the hell was Van Dongen, when Campbell thieved and sold the BCR and the valuable Real Estate?
I'm not buying into any of this. Deb Grey said, Harper is still a Reformer. The Northern Foundation Party, is Harper's true party, from 1989. The skinheads organized the party for him.
Seems, Harper is spreading his poison, all over Canada.
The people of Alberta, had better wake-up. Harper is giving the tar sands to China. All of China's vast holdings of the oil sands, will be worked by their own people. China is also building the Enbridge pipeline. China is refining the oil. China owns the resources, and our jobs.
BC was victimized by Harper and, the Campbell/Clark BC Liberals. BC's assets and resources, thieved, sold and gone, all for, China's benefit.
Anonymous...is your tin hat on a little too tight there?? Just remember Alberta's economy is running the country at the moment. The money we make here helps run all your little shangri-la socialist crap over the Rockies there. I really wish BC would get their shit together. They really should be a "have' province rather than the basket case they've become. Blaming Alberta simply solves nothing.
If Wildrose wins it will give the Liberals a new boogie man to try and instill fear into Canadians.
This could help keep the Libs afloat and ensure the left vote stays split.
It looks like the wafer chasers have already started.
It has been amusing to watch the Libs drift further into irrelevance.
