Douglas
Los, a resident of Kagawong and formerly of Sudbury, died on Saturday, June 30,
2012. He was born in Sudbury, loving son of William and Frances (Adams) Los.
Doug had practiced law from 1975 until 2009, and in 1977 became a partner in
Weaver Simmons Law Firm. He was very active in many facets of his professional
career, as well as an active community member, serving on numerous boards and
committees. He enjoyed collecting art, reading, skiing and spending time with
his family. An avid sailor, he enjoyed his time spent on the water. Doug and
Gail had been summer residents of Kagawong since 1977 and became permanent
residents in 2010.
Surviving
besides his parents, is his beloved wife Gail (Green) Los. Loving and loved
father of Amy Phillips and husband Shane of Lively, Matthew of Sudbury and Paul
and partner Nora Burns of Mississaugua. Proud grandfather of Lyndon and Larkin
Phillips. Dear brother of Ann Marie Tackaberry and husband Milt of Ottawa, Chris
Los of Peterborough and Michael Los of Sudbury and sister in law Paula of
Sudbury (husband Bill predeceased). Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends
may call at the Culgin Funeral Home, Gore Bay after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The
funeral service to celebrate Doug’s life will be conducted at St. John the
Evangelist Anglican Church, Kagawong on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with
Fr. Jim Kelly and Pastor Jeremy Mahood officiating. Interment in Kagawong Cedars
Cemetery. If so desired, donations (by cheque only) to charities that were
important to Doug, the educational Trust Fund for Lyndon and Larkin, Immaculate
Conception Church, All Nations Church or the Old Mill Heritage Centre would be
appreciated
