Farewell Dalton (and no he was not born in Kenya!)

It is remarkable just how vicious are some of the blogosphere comments about the Premier. I myself think the Premier has done a pretty good job and, on a personal level, is an amiable and decent man. In fact, broadening it to both genders I have found all MPPs to be decent and honourable people trying hard to do their best for Ontario (some, granted, aren't really amiable).

I can appreciate others have a different view of how good a job the Premier has done - that's politics - but I cannot understand the demonization. Suggesting, as one writer did, that Dalton was Satan (more than in league with Satan, he was Satan) is positively weird.

Granted the Satan comment was extreme but in character with many others.

Perhaps this just reflects the times we live in? At least no one said (as far as I can see) that Dalton was born in Kenya!

Come to think of it, we never did see his birth certificate.

Gee, I wonder where comments like that come from... I mean I have never heard anyone on the left side of the spectrum say anything like that about Harper, or conservatives in general :-)

But seriously, if Dalton is literally demonized it is just part of the general tenor of political debate in Canada and the US. It can be disconcerting but I prefer it to the sanitized pap the MSM delivered to us for the last 100 years. As a speechie I'd rather hear the whackos in among the myriad of opinions available on line rather than the filtered news or opinions for that matter, we get in the MSM.
