Pre-War German Suicide Rates

In 1932 Germany's suicide rate was four times that of the UK and double that of America. Perhaps this reflected a despair for the state of the nation that underpinned the subsequent Nazi success?

uh... a little historical context goes a long way. Hyperinflation wiped out every penny of savings inthe whole nation. No pensions, partially occupied by French collecting forced war reparations, massive unemployment, uprisings and tens of thousands of political murders. It was not a happy place at all.
