India a permanent member of Security Council?

During a speech to India's parliament in New Delhi on Monday, President Obama called for India to become a permanent member of a reformed U.N. Security Council. The change would likely occur only if the size of the security council is increased, a proposal that faces resistance from a number of nations.

I guess that reveals the real reason one gets on the security council, doesn't it? Build a nuke, get a seat. Harper should be building nukes right now!

Well, viewed rationally, the Security Council should consist of:

Permanent
- European Union
- United States
- Russia
- China
- India

Rotating
- Brazil / Argentina
- Egypt / South Africa / Nigeria
- Australia / Indonesia / Canada

Elected
- three additional spots

Based on the current make-up there is no justifiable reason not to have Germany as a permanent member. So add Germany and India or just do away with permanent members period.
