Stock market plunge continues; oil slides further, C$ falls under 78 cents
TORONTO - Stock markets are continuing their plunge, with a 12.7 per cent tumble today in Hong Kong and a 6.4 per cent drop in Tokyo.
Wall Street index futures point to steep early losses and commodity prices keep falling as worries deepen about a global depression.
And the hammering goes on for the commodity-linked Canadian dollar. The loonie is trading at 77.74 cents US, down 0.82 cent from Friday after losing 5.7 cents last week and about 16 cents since the start of October.
