Lawyer kills self day before charges

Sad story but not that uncommon. I have known a number of professionals who, as a result of criminal charges, have killed themselves.

FRIEND ADMITS GUILT
Toronto man accused of insider trading over years

TORONTO • A Toronto lawyer accused of illegally funnelling information to a former law school classmate as part of a multi-million-dollar fraud and insider trading scheme has killed himself, just a day before the Ontario Securities Commission planned to announce a settlement agreement with the two lawyers.

Gil Cornblum, 39, a former partner with the law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP, died early Monday morning, according to Stanko J. Grmovsek, the law school classmate and coaccused in the scheme.

Toronto Police said a man was rushed to hospital after being found below a bridge in the Don Valley shortly after 7 a.m., but later died from his injuries.

How do people, who are sworn to uphold the law, come to the conclusion that this is acceptable behaviour?

The lawyer killed himself - sad, but why is this breach of trust not worthy of mention until he kills himself?

Downes,

I agree with you that the breach is worth an earlier discussion. I didnt know the story until today. Sill, a nasty business -- I had a client jump a few years ago -- it was totally unexpected but, in hindsight, I blamed myself for not seeing it coming...

Downes, there was plenty of press about the allegations prior to Gil's death. Try googling and you will see it.
