Caucus members will be a local events where each riding will participate in the conference by teleconference and otherwise.
In effect there will be a giant nation wide policy discussion involving people from all parts of Canada.
It is a bit of a gamble. If the technology doesn't work well there will be problems -- but if the technology is there the advantages of broad inclusion are overwhelming.

It will be interesting to see how it works.
Pure BS. One of two things is going on here.
1. The "Canada @ 150" coference is designed in part to raise funds for the Liberal party. If MP's aren't there then they can charge $700 per seat to some other suckers.
2. There is wide discontent in the benches of the Liberal party and Iggy&Co. do not want negative grumblings from the caucus to steal the headlines in Montreal.
At least one Lib MP, (Dosanjh) has already hinted that he won't be hosting a "local event". Bottom line I suspect he feels snubbed.
I don't get how it is to be a Liberal Party policy conference when the elected by the people members of the Liberal party are not invited.
There are no grass roots.
There is no representation by the people. In fact, Ignatieff himself was not chosen by the people he was annointed leader.
And the Canada 150 is already a program that has been underway by the Feds since 2008 with ongoing work being done by 150 younger Canadians who hold conferences, round tables and ideas from thousands of Canadians not just a chosen few in a very specific elite demographic.
Why host a poor duplicate of something already taking place?
