Newest Ekos poll, CPC 31.9, LPC 26.6

The Tories garnered 31.9 per cent support in the survey to the Liberals' 26.6 per cent. The New Democratic Party was at 17.6 per cent, the Greens at 10.9 per cent and the Bloc Québécois at 9.7 per cent.

According to the Pentagon, Hamid Karzai scores 24% support. Just a bit of perspective.

Ignatieff's set a new record, for the first time Liberals are polling below 20% in Quebec. He should resign and we should have the leadership race that was cancelled!

I think you are misreading the Ignatieff numbers. 48% of Canadians either approve, are unsure, or didn't bother to respond regarding his leadership. That's a decent number for an Opposition leader.

Wow, you must look like a pretzel after writing that contortion. Ignatieff's numbers would be bad if he were just elected leader. They're TERRIBLE considering he's been on the job for a while now and has had a chance to define himself. One in five approve of his leadership while one in three approve of Harper's. Layton, that other opposition leader, has the approval of two in five. There are definitely other reasons for Layton's numbers, but there is also definitely no denying that Ignatieff has bombed with the public, particularly in Quebec.
