Another poll

The federal Conservatives have a narrow margin of advantage over the Liberals, with a little over three percentage points dividing the two parties, a new EKOS opinion poll suggests. The poll, released exclusively to CBC, suggests that 31 per cent of respondents would vote for the Tories if an election were held today, compared with 27.7 per cent who would back the Liberals. The Tories' lead over the Liberals has dropped to 3.3 percentage points, down from the 4.2-percentage-point spread last week's poll indicated. But over the past month, the Tories have seen a notable decline in support, with a lead of nearly 10 points for the party decreasing to a three-point margin. The Liberals have seen marginal but stable increases over the last six weeks.

Here's hoping for a continued drop by the Tories and a fall election. I've been hoping for a fall election since Winter 2007...

Finally the summit boondoggle is percolating into poll results. Let's hope the outrage lasts until the fall, and that we do get another election.

You're going to be disappointed, I'm afraid. The poll numbers are moving, yes, but not for the reason that you think...they're just going back to their normal ranges as people 'park' their votes for the summer. Check back over the last 4 years or so and observe what happens when there is the mere threat of an election, then watch what happens when that threat subsides. It's quite predictable...
