Drabinsky appeal delays

Today's Post hints that the delay in the Drabinsky appeal is a result of dithering because the appeal has no merit.

Good or bad as the appeal may be there is a fair simpler explanation for the delay -- transcripts.

The transcripts of the nearly 70 day long trial must be typed out by hand by court reporters in their off hours -- that takes months and sometimes years (yes years).

It's a very poor reason to delay an appeal but it's not a reason the blame for which can be laid at the foot of the defence or Crown.
