Today George Smitherman made a Hail Mary pass for a one on one debate with Rob Ford and CFRB naively accepted it.
This is undemocratic move wrongly ignores three of the other major candidates.
It's wrong that Rocco, Joe and Sarah are being left out of the debate
Given the fact that 70% of people are not with either candidate how is this reasonable, fair or in anyway a reflection of what Torontonians want?
It's wrong for them to try and influence the race this early on.
Remember 2003? John Nuziata and Barbara Hall had a one-on-one debate. Neither finished in first or second place. Barbara Hall’s campaign manager? George Smitherman.

well, the complaint should be levelled to cfrb and the crtc or some such. after all these are still public airwaves despite the private license. cfrb would probably jump at the chance to have them all on in various combos, but any more then two at a time makes for lousy radio.
Given that 80% don't vote at the municipal level I'd say that most people couldn't care less either way.
I believe it was Mel Hurtig that sued to try and get into the leader debates in the early 90's.He lost. I know he was a fringe party leader but his inclusion in the debates may have helped.
It may not be undemocratic for the two mayoral candidates to do this but I can't see any complaints being successful
