Canvassing South Oshawa again

Lots of voters but no one else canvasses here. Maybe the Conservative see them as a write off and the NDP can't be bothered? Odd.

I have been complaining about this issue for years and then everyone wonders why there is such a low voter turn out in the South End. Go figure.

Maybe when you're less busy after the election, you can resolve something for me:

While you're canvassing, do you feel like a door-to-door salesman? I did, back in the day. And do you think that a system that picks the best door-to-door salesman is the best way to pick our leaders?

Downes -- yes, and it feels silly to be saying, "hello, I am a great guy" so what I try to do is stick to policy and ask them to consider everyone and then vote for who they think best. Maybe it would be better to say "ignore the others and vote for me" but that's just not me.

I've lived in the extreme south end for twenty years -- I can see a bit of Lake Ontario from my kitchen window. I once had a Progressive Conservative at my door but I don't think Colin Carrie knows I'm alive. I've had the NDP visit a couple of times and phone -- actual humans phoning -- a couple more. I've never seen a Liberal. In the last campaign I did get a single robocall from the Liberal. He started talking about God and I tuned out.

(I also get robocalls from the NDP, both the local candidate and Jack Layton. And I hate robocalls no matter who they come from. If you can't spare a real person to talk to me, leave me alone. But I digress.)

Pogge, generally where are you. I'll try to make your area -- it's a big Riding but I am spending a good amount of time in the south.

Years ago, I ran for school trustee.
I canvassed a floor at Cummer House, it was the Alzheimer floor. I spent an hour talking to residents. A few months later a nurse recognized me and said she voted for me because I was the only municipal candidate who bothered to visit the floor.

South Oshawa may have a low voter turnout, but people still appreciate your attention and concern.

The closest lighted intersection to me is Park Rd. S. and Phillip Murray.

Utter nonsense Jimmy. I live in the south end and Carrie or his team have been to my door twice already.

I thought you were a weirdo and an out of towner but not a LIAR.

You're going to be crushed on May 2 Jimmy. Crushed.
