Conservative supporter accused of fraud gets coveted seat at Harper rally

http://bit.ly/e3lOtG

I don't have a problem with somebody charged with an offence getting to see Stephen Harper -- we do have a presumption of innocence.

My concern is not that people charged can see the Prime Minister but rather that people who disagree with (or aren't sure about) the Stephen Harper cannot see him to judge for themselves.

A Toronto businessman and self-described campaign volunteer who circulates in Conservative circles is facing a criminal charge for allegedly fraudulent credit- and debit-card withdrawals – a background that did not prevent him from sitting right behind the Harper family at a rally last week.

I was at the jam packed Harper rally in Deer Creek, Ajax last night, The only seats reserved were for MP's, and Mrs Harper, and they were off to the side. The rest was a free for everyone. Including the group who arrived before me with NO registrations, and were just let in.
Harper spoke, worked the crowd, thanked a veteran, posed for pictures, bee lined it for a disabled man.
When you have a open rally, even those who may have a record will attend. I hope so. We are a country of grace, and second chances. People who have a past are Canadians too.
If you have a problem with this, do not help out at a homeless shelter, or a church lunch program.
You will find people with a past there as well.

Rotterdam -- I am very glad to hear that. Open rallies are best and if the Conservative policy has now changed, good for the Cons!
