Jack is right about this

It's only right that the actual report be released and not be some spectre floating around the election:

Layton seeks all-party meeting with Auditor-General on G8 report
GLORIA GALLOWAY

NDP Leader Jack Layton has written to Auditor-General Sheila Fraser and other federal party leaders asking for the release an audit of $50-million of spending on last year's G8 summit, a leaked preliminary draft of which found the Conservative government had misspent money and been less than transparent with Parliament.

How do we get around the legal problem of releasing the report when parliament is not sitting? Doesn't this set a dangerous precedent?

The legal problem is a big deal, and I don't think we can get around it. Frankly, I think Harper's banking on that, given that he's claiming not to know what's in it. (By contrast to John Baird who says that he's seen it and that the phrase "Parliament was misinformed" isn't in it...whatever that means.)

Legal problem aside, it's something that the voting public should know about.
