A great adventure

A few minutes ago I conceded to Colin Carrie, the Conservative MP for Oshawa. He was very gracious and I am glad for him.

While I think his Party's platform is misguided there is no doubt that he, and the Conservatives, have a strong mandate and that's the way democracy works. All I can say is I hope I am wrong and the platform works well.

The election itself was a great adventure and, while exhausting, was something worth every minute of the effort. We were not successful but we ran a good tight campaign and one I am very proud of.

Im so sorry to hear you did not win. I'm a big Conservative supporter, and an thrilled with the Conservative majority, but following your blog has given me great respect for you, and parliament would have benefited from your presence.

Morton... you're a class act.

Get some rest.

Looking at all those pictures of you during the campaign... it look as though you've lost a lot of weight.

Thanks for putting up the good fight. It's people like you from all parties that put themselves out there and doing the hard work of campaigning that make democracy possible.

Take a couple of days to decompress and for yourself!

Thank you. Without people like you willing to run for office at great personal sacrifice, this country would be the lesser for it. Now you can take a well deserved rest.

This blog has given us some useful insight as to the work that goes on during a campaign by candidates and their supporters. Well done.

It must be frustrating though that some candidates won even though they are clearly not qualified to represent their constituents. I don't mean it to be a partisan comment but when someone can win while campaigning in Vegas, have poor language skills etc. it clearly crosses the line.

James,
In my book you are a winner, a winner for taking up the campaign in Oshawa, a winner for getting the message out in the classiest of manners and a winner for conceding to the Conservative Candidate again in a very classy manner. The Liberal party was well served by you.
Thank you
