"... he insisted that “Lester B. Pearson Building” be removed from the standard street address for Foreign Affairs’ headquarters in Ottawa"

This would be funny if it weren't sinister in a way:

John Baird has set a new gold standard for business cards.

The Conservative Foreign Affairs Minister demanded – and got – gold embossing on his business cards shortly after being shuffled into the portfolio last May, contrary to government rules.
Mr. Baird then ordered the word "Canada" dropped from the standard design, also against federal policy.

And he insisted that "Lester B. Pearson Building" be removed from the standard street address for Foreign Affairs' headquarters in Ottawa, thereby erasing the name of a former Liberal prime minister and Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Erasing a political name from a building that should be non-partisan, don't you think? The Liberals were in power a long time and you took full advantage to name almost everything after one Liberal or another. You guys even tried to rename Mt. Logan for Trudeau - A Western mountain for an Eatsern PM. Nice.

As a Conservative I'd rather not lug around Liberal baggage on my business card, either.

If John Baird doesn't like having the word CANADA on his business card, maybe we should remove it from his paycheck--after we remove him from office.

I have yet to meet a CPC party member who has anything good to say about Canada, or actually loves their country.

The part about Mike Pearson troubles me less that removing 'Canada' from the card. At least he didn't add 'Royal'

Baird says the word "Canada" is indeed on the card.
