Hudak tweets send Twitterverse abuzz: Lock your keypad!

I must say I think this is rather sweet; fortunately the tweets were clearly gibberish otherwise there might have been fallout. Imagine if they had been about, say, Humpty Dumpty!

It’s not often you catch the Ontario PC leader off script.

So when Tim Hudak tweeted a string of gibberish Sunday afternoon, the Twitterverse went into overdrive.

The tweets — “Xkdkdkdsdf. $$$$$$$bnncfnrn” and “Xkdkdkdsdf. $fcfdfjfhhffhfhhffhhfhjjhhfhfhfhfhrhd. Cvbbcbcbnfgbfbfbfbfbfbfbg$$$$$$bnncfnrn” — quickly became trending topics in both Toronto and Ottawa.

Hudak, an avid tweeter with over 11,600 followers, was quick to point the finger at 4-year-old daughter Miller, who managed to her hands on his cellphone while he was driving.

“Congrats to all who guessed Miller tweets, she had BB while I was driving. Turns out she’s pretty good tweeter, tweets are now trending lol!,” he posted.

But that didn’t stop tweeters across the province from taking advantage of the PC leader’s off-the-cuff moment — many of them sarcastically decoding the messages:

@Ben_Bergen: “Tories trying to rationalize crime bill??”

@ericlamTO: “A cry for help?”

@Hkenez_journ: “Dealing w. McGuinty can be stressful.”

@Geopoliticus: “Is this one of the footnotes for Changebook?”

@TraceyKent: “Hudak speaking in tongues.”

@glen_mcgregor: “Has @timhudak been hacked, or just pocket tweeting?”

Although Twitter users continued their 140-character jests into the afternoon, a social media-savvy Hudak seemed to take it all in stride. “After Miller was done tweeting we had a great walk around Mud Lake with Tavish :)” he wrote.

In the aftermath, Toronto Police Const. Wendy Drummond tweeted a bit of advice: “Lock your keypad.”

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall,
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king's horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty together again
