Non-Christian prison chaplains chopped by Ottawa

Perhaps I am biased but to me this is wrong. Yes, of course a Christian minister can provide spiritual counsel to a Muslim or a Jew; but if one faith is paid for all should be (assuming numbers suffice - and there are lots of non-Christians in federal institutions)
The federal government is cancelling the contracts of non-Christian chaplains at federal prisons, CBC News has learned.
Inmates of other faiths, such as Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jews, will be expected to turn to Christian prison chaplains for religious counsel and guidance, according to the office of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, who is also responsible for Canada's penitentiaries.

No, James, you're not biased. This is wrong. The Public Safety Minister's action looks to me like the product of bias.

James, you need to read that story more closely and then remember that the headline is not actually reflected in Toews' words. To whit, Toews says existing full time chaplains must minister to all faiths, not just their own. There is no requirement for full time chaplains to be christian. The CBC says there are 80 full time chaplains and all but one are christian. It's a small thing but obviously they're not all Christians. Perhaps there is a need to hire more non-christian full time chaplains but then they, too, would have to minister to all faiths. That's the way it is done in the army, by the way.

The headline is inflammatory and maybe even libelous.

Mr. Morton.
Have a look at the MOU that guides the provision of Chaplaincy services within CSC
http://interfaithchaplaincy.ca/IFC%20MOU.pdf Look specifically at item #6 under Institutional Chaplaincy Services: "The CSC will implement the recommendations on service standards for offenders belonging to minority religious traditions in accordance with the Report of the Task Force on Services Standards for Minority Religions (March
2003)."
