I hope not. I don't agree with all the arguments nor do I want to champion the survival sex trade but if prostitution itself is legal (it is, and I think it should be) then laws restricting it need to be justified by more than general distaste and feminist theology. If the chant "my body, my choice" has any real meaning then people should be able to choose to to sell sex just like the rest of us sell physical or intellectual labour.

I agree in terms of policy -- the current law is preposterous -- but it should not be judges deciding.

The purpose of judges is (in part) to ensure that the laws passed by Parliament do not infringe on the rights and freedoms of Canadians.

When (not 'if')Parliament passes such laws, it is entirely appropriate for judges to be 'deciding', and we want them to do this.
